Although Maria Semple's debut novel was one of the worst ones I'd ever forced myself to finish, I'm glad I gave this one a go! It's so cute and fun and ridiculous in all the good ways!

When I was told the book starts slow, I was worried I'd get bored reading it. But far from it! Obviously, the first "twist" isn't really meant to be one anyway, simply an opening to dwelve deeper into the book. The two twists that followed, however? OH. MY. GOD. Perhaps I'm a thoughtless reader, but they caught me by surprise, big time, and made the end of the book as thrilling of a read as a book can be, all the way to the very last sentence.
