Genuinely do not know how to rate this book. If nothing else, it was interesting. Unique tone and style. And gotta respect the author for really believing in his work even when no one wanted to publish him. I enjoyed this read as a whole. It's really nothing like anything else I've read.

A retrospective on friendship, music, the Asian-American experience, and coming of age in the 90s. Wonderful read.

I found most of this terribly boring and I disliked every single character. Otherwise, the writing is ok and the angsty vampire atmosphere is pretty well done, so there's that.

Cannot believe the education system failed to make me read Khaled Hosseini. Everyone should read this.

A little underwhelming. Fun read as a whole though considering how short it was. Also can't get over (or into) the fact that Oak has donkey legs.

I preferred the first book, but that might also be because I read that while coming off the excitement of the Netflix series. There were multiple moments in this book that I thought the show did better. All the big scenes were pretty underwhelming to read. The banter felt kinda forced, and the character building a little lacklustre. There also wasn’t as much momentum in the pacing and action as there was in the show. I assume if I went into this with fresh, unbiased eyes, this is probably an okay book.
