Pretty superficial, very west is good, ultimately somewhat ambivalent about this book - I might check out some of the books she mentions.

I would have expected a book about sapphic space pirate engineers fighting a malicious AI to be a bit more exciting, but it did not come to pass. I don't expect to read subsequent books in the series.
I think this might appeal to someone that enjoys war proceedural novels, but wanted it to be in space. It was not for me.
