despite SLIGHTLY annoying narration (both from the logs and the third person POV) it’s no doubt a page turner, at points i almost felt like i was  there with everyone rooting for mark. not something that necessarily makes you think (besides the science and math) but a fun read regardless

took me a while to actually review this. disclaimer that i didn’t know who lindsey ellis is beforehand and i still don’t really. 

the beginning was so incredibly slow i almost dropped it but finally got far enough for it to barely grab me, i did kind of like seeing the humans and aliens interact and struggle a bit with anthropomorphizing too much which is smth i find happens a lot in scifi without being addressed in universe. otherwise it kind of fell flat to me, i feel like it never really let me dive fully into it. while i understand the point of nils and his role in the story it almost felt pointless to me, but probably exists to build something up for future novels. still considering if i’ll read the rest of the series but leaning towards no
