Tokyo Ghoul, Vol. 2 by Sui Ishida
5.0
Omg love the mask tattooist, Uta. Vol 2 is setting up so many layers of secrecy and people to avenge - great volume to increase the intensity; life between ghouls and humans is on a tight rope. I feel for the mom who died. 😭 The image at the end is so corny. 😂
electric infinities by Ashley Cline

Ashley Cline is the best at choosing fantastic poem titles - best poem was simply her desperately imagining Laika the dog as fireproof in spite of science. 😭

Finally caught up to the point in the anime I got to! Smiled the whole time. Saitama revealing that he got his powers by doing 100 push ups every day is amazing. Carnage Kuboto getting scared purely on instinct is amazing. Good second volume!

I am familiar with this part of the anime! No surprises here! But the mosquito woman struck me as ridiculously horny this time around. LOL.
Mob Psycho 100, Volume 2 by Kumar Sivasubramanian, ONE

Ridiculously low quality drawing — but god, if Mob doesn’t capture your heart I don’t know who you are. Had fun.
Tales from the Café by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

Chicken Soup for the Time Travelling Soul #2. Miki Tokita calling herself “moi” all the time was HILARIOUS to me . There are so many victims of financial fraud in this second book! 😵😔 But aw the miscarriage message is complicated to think through for my heart.

Okay, okay, Willow is right, this is good!
I love how the main character doesn’t instantly lose all his humanity. The slow burn of him accepting his new ghoul side is so well done over volume 1! 😮
No Country for Eight-Spot Butterflies: A Lyric Essay by Julian Aguon
3.5
Little book that packs a punch, it is filled with commencement speeches and poetry that made me see Guam and its Indigenous people in a much more rich way. It is funny how much Julian clearly has a handful of favourite writers to quote.
Case Closed, Vol. 5 by Gosho Aoyama

Hmmmm! This reunion story in the woods!!! It took me awhile to catch on here - I should have had it figured out from the start!!!! I loved locked room mysteries! The ending has the biggest cliffhanger; it’s like… okay… you got me…. I’ll read on….
Astral Season, Beastly Season by Tahi Saihate

Best novella I have read in a long time. This book is fascinated by fan culture and how far a teenager would go to be a fan, especially at 17. What it means to be lonely. What it means to be in a classroom. This book has two amazing afterwords. Really cool book. Dark, introspective, fascinating!!!!
