What Feasts at Night by T. Kingfisher

Welcome back to the world of Alex Easton and their series of horrific adventures! I was so excited to read this audiobook and get back into the spooky world of Gallacia.
In this installment of the Sworn Soldier series, Easton is headed to their family hunting lodge after the events of What Moves the Dead. Once they get there, they find their caretaker dead and the homestead eerily silent no matter what they do. Now they have to uncover the many mysteries of their home while interacting with a whole new cast of characters.
I am not going to lie, I was a little nervous when I started this book. What Moves the Dead was incredible and I had huge expectations when it came to What Feasts at Night, but let me tell you this lived up to the hype. In fact, it was better than What Moves the Dead!
The atmosphere of the hunting lodge and dreamscape that Alex explores throughout the book is perfect. You will feel chills and frights and you won't be able to sleep after reading this book. Gallacia was certainly frightening and I loved getting immersed in this world again.
Now can we talk about the found family in this? Of course, you have the comeback of Agnus and Miss Potter, but you also have the addition of their new caretaker Widow Botezatu, and her son Bors. These new additions add so much to this small novel! One of the only issues that I had with the previous book was I didn't feel connected to a lot of the characters, but that is not an issue here. Bors has my whole heart and every time Widow Botezatu walked into a scene I knew I was going to get a good laugh!
All in all this new book was incredible and I hope T. Kingfisher will continue enthralling us with Easton's unfortunate tales.
Thank you so much to T. Kingfisher and Netgalley for giving me access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“As it turns out, the mariposas in my belly were right all along.”
A perfect cute, cozy romance that lets you escape back to autumn vibes … sign me up!
The Fall of Whit Rivera follows Whit as she tries to have the perfect senior year of high school. There are just three problems. She just found out she has PCOS, she broke up with her boyfriend, and she has to work with her ex to create the perfect Fall Fest. 🍂
This book was everything I needed this January. It had the best friendships and family vibes while also perfectly recreating how it feels to be a senior in high school. Plus, it has one of the sweetest romances I’ve read in a while!
As someone who experiences chronic pain, I found a lot of similarities between my and Whit’s experiences. It was amazing to see a woman still have a happy life and love while also having a chronic illness! We love representation!
I highly recommend this book if you want to have a fun romance while escaping back to cozy autumn vibes.

“A good house can carry anguish, and this is how I think of bodies now, too.”
Displacement causes immense confusion: whether that’s displacement from your home, your spouse, your family, or your gender. The Moon that Turns You Back captures this idea perfectly through one of the most impactful poetry collections I have ever read.
The collection perfectly dissects grief, the realities of womanhood, marriage, and so much more in less than 120 pages. Each poem changes format and form as Hala Alyan puts her incredible creativity on display. I was never bored and I never wanted to put the book down. My favorite changes of form were the poems that became a “choose your own adventure” of sorts in which Alyan allows her reader to participate and decide what the next word will be. These poems, in particular, captured the idea of how displacement causes these shifting memories and narratives throughout one’s life.
If you are looking for a book that captures the emotions of being Palestinian during this moment in time, this is the book for you.
If you are looking for a book that captures the shifting emotions of marriage, this is the book for you.
If you are looking for a poetry collection that reinvents what poetry can be, this book is for you!
This collection comes out on March 12th, 2024 and I highly recommend pre-ordering it soon because it is not a book you’ll want to miss!
