This was another cutesy one, besides some of the left field mannerisms. #4 for the dnf challenge!

This one was sweet, and still funny in places. #3 for dnf challenge complete.

This one is much calmer, I dislike the immediate “let’s have a baby after being together for one day” trope.

Completely absurd and insanely hilarious. The MMC is a Jamie Fraser copy so that’s always a plus. Part One of the DNF Challenge complete.

I knew the ending was coming but I was hoping it would go differently for our girl, but she has one more book to get it right. This one was more stabby but also had moments where I laughed out loud. Hoping all the justice gets served in the next one.

Getting back to business here and being extra sneaky about it. Now that she has another partner in crime, I feel like she’s opening up more to others. I’m wondering if it’s all going to come to a head in the next one…

This is the first Bridgerton love interest that it took me a while to like, and even at the end I find him very mid. Sir Phillip was rather aloof and boring for my taste, and not at all what I thought Eloise’s spouse would be. He wants her to be an immediate mother to the children he neglects, in a constant state of happiness because his first wife was melancholy, and pushes sex on her since he’s been abstinent for 8 years and it’s his marital right. That being said, book Eloise is much different than she is portrayed on the show. She is still rather chatty, a trait Phillip openly says he dislikes, and someone who suddenly wants a gaggle of children, how convenient for him. I’m interested to see how the show adapts the book on this one.

I’m honestly amazed at how many good reviews this book has, because this book is definitely for certain types of people. This is political intrigue and court manipulation with very little action. The names and language are another challenge, it took me a while to remember who was who, there is also a plethora of characters. The fantasy aspect is incredibly light. All that being said, I really loved this story, the main character was very lovable for me and I enjoyed the scheming.

I listened to the audio for this, where Kate Winslet narrated and it was stunning. She gave so much life to all the characters. I’ve never read this before, and I was still giggling through most of it, even though it’s a children’s book. I can only fault it really in two places: introducing characters for one long scene for them never to be spoken of again and  the child abuse on all fronts that is encouraged not to tell anyone about.

This one is aptly named, she detours on a side quest, but it’s adding more layers and probably problems for her in the near future. I knew the cliffhanger was coming, hoping she takes care of it in #3.
