I think I just expected more humor from it. I think the emotional numbness is intentional,  maybe that's the point, but it made it a tough read and although the conversational style should make it a quick read, this book to me ages to get through as I would put it down for a break.  Don't get me wrong it's very well written. She has a clear distinctive voice likes she in the room with you telling the story.  I get why people ranked it higher.
