Oof. I struggled with this one. The first 1/4 was so promising and funny and then it just kept dragging on and on. So many different tropes were thrown in and I got so frustrated at the repeated phrasing (I.e. “his deep voice”, “big blue eyes) to describe the characters. Like please try different descriptive words. We get it. His eyes are blue. 😮💨 The sex scenes were cringey and not believable. The dialogue was stilted and forced. I felt like this could’ve been a great 100-150 page novella but there’s so much filler, nothing made sense. I almost DNF’d but persevered and cringed my way through it. Probably not going to be picking up any others from this series.
This was super cute from start to finish. I figured out who Jake is very quickly which was a bit frustrating for the “plot twist” to happen so late in the book. I love the idea of a penal story and I’m shocked I’ve never read one before this book.
This book. I literally have no words. Well, a few.
I thought I wasn’t going to like it. It seemed long and too slow burn for my tastes. But I persevered and then the 50% mark hit and it all changed. I was laughing. I was crying. I was cursing it out.
This was beautiful. Heartbreaking but beautiful all the same. 💕
Kayla was my nemesis throughout the entire book. I felt she was so immature and never did any “growing” throughout the book. She got everything she asked for/wanted and was never happy. She just irritated me to no end.
I was not aware this was a prequel to another book and the ending was a SHOCKER. Was not expecting it whatsoever.
I’ll admit that I looked at the next book and am pretty upset to see it’s not just Cooper and Nora’s story and rather a combination of 6 characters. I wish they had their own story to follow from this prequel 🥺
I loved like 75% of this book. And then Stella’s freak out towards the end just kinda turned me off of her. It felt childish and not at all the type of thing her character should be doing.
It was a super cute short read. I was wishing for something more (possibly more character development and/or falling in love things) because it was pretty fast paced, but it was still cute!
