A sweet (slightly cheesy) romance. The characters were easy to fall in love with. This was a quick read, but mostly because I didn’t want to put it down. Great summer read!

This book came highly recommended by both friends and the internet in general. As someone who doesn’t read much/has only recently started to get into memoirs, I was nervous that I wouldn’t feel the same. But it turns out, this book deserves every ounce of the praise I’ve heard. The book was beautifully written (which is unsurprising as the author is also a musician) and I have never had a book make me so unbelievably hungry before! The description of food was a unique and interesting way to move the story forward and they do a wonderful job of emphasizing just how tied our memories can be to food. A beautiful and personal tribute to Zauner’s mother and Korean heritage, it was also a real and emotional look at grief and losing someone you love. I walked away wanting to call my mom and make the family dishes I grew up with over the years.
