Katee Roberts just keeps on giving.

I love this book so much! How can a book about erotica give me tears in my eyes?? 🥹 Actually, I wish the book gave me more of a heartache, but it's just a novella, so I understand!

If you're looking for taboo, save your money and find something better. There are plenty of great taboo books out there, and this wasn’t one of them.

The writing was so bad and simplistic that it felt like something a 10-year-old might have written—or even worse.

The sex scenes were also terrible... boring. You’d expect better when you see the genre of the book.

I’m not going to bother reading the second book.

His Daddy really was enough 👀👀👀

This is my first read of Katee Roberts, but certainly not my last.
This short story is pure p0rn, but still manage to have a tiny little depth in it. It’s a great palette cleanser, not dark at all (just dirty and kinda sweet).

Absolutely nothing happened in this book. They’re in a cabin for about 90% of the story, and I wish I could get my time back.

Again, there's still more internal dialogue and thoughts than actual dialogue. Occasionally, some action happens, but we just get a brief recap in Lark's head.

The plot wraps up about 80% into the book. Literally nothing happens in the last 20%—just poorly written porn.

Lmao, this is one of the worst books I've ever read. HOW does this book have such a high rating??

I don't hate it because of the tropes, triggers, or the level of darkness. I hate it because it’s just bad. The writing is TERRIBLE. Here are some examples:

- There’s more internal dialogue than actual dialogue. I don’t need an explanation of what someone said was important—I want the actual dialogue!

- There’s NO character development, and almost every character is insufferable.

- The main characters are supposed to be between 27-30 years old, but they talk like they’re in high school. ("You're my ride-or-die bestie🥰" BARF🤮 What 30-year-olds talk like that??)

- Two of the MMC are supposedly FBI special agents. But they’re dumb af. The author should watch a few episodes of X-Files, Fringe, or Criminal Minds just to get an idea of how intelligent an FBI agent is supposed to be.

Some spoilers below:
*
*
*
*
*
- The plot makes NO sense. Why would they enter themselves as se cs s lave s instead of just being... the buyers?

- Apparently, Lark is a big deal, so why do they risk hurting her so much? In chapter 12, Lark gets badly injured "down there" 👀. Marcus is very concerned and says she’ll need a long rest and antibiotics for over a week. The next day, in chapter 14, Lark has to be "punished"🙄. Suddenly her injuries are forgotten. I can’t even. She never gets her antibiotics either.

- Again, the dialogue is SO childish: "Emmett and I are actually undercover agents. Being investigative reporters is our cover.” This is something I wrote in middle school 💀💀.

- Lark is more upset that her (ex) boyfriend broke up with her because of the mission than she is about being an actual se cs ŝ lave ("Since this is your gig, do you know who I’m going to be forced to f u  c?”). She's walking around rolling her eyes and giving Rex the cold shoulder instead of working together. Make it make sense.

I can’t even follow the author’s description of what happens because it’s so poorly written. I didn’t even understand that Apollo and Marcus were supposed to be handsome and around 30 years old 💀.

Even the formatting sucks. Sometimes the chapter header shows the POV character’s name, and other times it doesn’t. So we just have to guess whose POV we’re reading lmao.

I really don't mean to be rude, but I cannot recommend this book to anyone. It's full of spelling and formatting errors, and the writing is really really bad. If you take out the spicy scenes it could be written by a 10yo as a homework assignment.

The writing and the plot is unbelievably unrealistic. I know it's fiction, but it's supposed to be contemporary fiction, so it has to make sense. Unfortunately, it doesn't. The author doesn't know how anything works in real life when they write about the prison system, legal system etc. I almost got permanently eyetwitch while reading.

Also; some of the spicy scenes seems... anatomical impossible lmao.

This book was... complicated lol.
I loved the story about the history between "vEnOmX" and "K1ngK0br@". I also LOVED the tension between Montana and Shane 🥵

Unfortunately, the writing was kinda confusing. Somewhere 30-40% ish into the book we learn Montana was "investigating" a murder of her online-friend. That plot didn't  get enough attention from the author and the plot-twists were obvious from early on. This gave us a somewhat anticlimactic ending.

I want to point out (again lol) how much I loved the relationship between the two main characters. I want more of them!!
Also adored the relationship between Shane's two roommates 🥹🥹
