2nd read 4**** - This book is so easy and quick to read and a lot of fun and is still one of my favourite series but after rereading I can’t help but notice that this first book has a few inconsistencies and seems much more childish then I remember. For instance when something tragic happens, the writing implies Percy isn’t too upset and he just brushes it off for the convenience of carrying on with the plot. I know that the first Harry Potter books are also very childish upon reflection but there’s a certain magic and nostalgia to them that Percy Jackson doesn’t personally have for me.
