Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

I really enjoyed Midnight Sun! I was a HUGE Twilight fan back in my middle school days and this book bought back all those memories. I even went back and watched all of the movies once I finished reading.

You have to understand that it's the exact same story as Twilight (give or take), with just a different perspective and a few added details due to it being from Edward's perceptive. I think if I was reading it directly after finishing the rest of the Twilight series, I would think "what's the big deal?" but reading it now (~10 years later) was very enjoyable.

I was pretty disappointed in this book. I've read and enjoyed a lot of Marie Harte's other series, and while the books do tend to be on the shorter side, at least there is SOME character development, backstory, etc. This book felt so impersonal and I felt no connection to any of the characters.

It's only redeeming quality was the bachelor with a baby trope, which is a favorite of mine.

I was immediately hooked on this series. It reminds of one of my all time favorite series, Men Who Walk The Edge Of Honor by Lori Foster. In fact, the KGI series from Maya Banks may rival it.

I don't always enjoy when love interests are already a couple when the book begins (I prefer to read the build up to becoming a couple), but this book was an exception. Since Rachel has been presumed dead for a year, her relationship with Ethan is not set in stone, but rather has to be rebuilt.

Ethan is definitely NOT my favorite Kelly brother, but really liked his and Rachel's story.

I think this is my favorite KGI novel. Is it because it's hot and heavy right from the first page? Or because it involves a pregnancy, which I'm a sucker for? Or because Sam is the overprotective eldest brother? The world may never know.

I highly appreciated that this novel, unlike some others in the series, was spicy and hot from the get go. Thanks Maya!

After reading "No Place To Run" and enjoying Sophie being afraid of Garret's grumpy self, I couldn't wait to read his story and learn about the woman who would soften him. It was nice to see so much of Garret's sweet side with Sarah, but I would've liked to see Garret's gruff and grumpy side a little more. He basically turned into a pushover immediately.

I also found it a little unrealistic that Sarah forgave Garret so quickly for using her to go after her brother. She seemed to just accept that her brother was a "bad guy" even though he had always been kind to her and protected her. I wouldn't liked a little more resistance, and Garret having to do more to win her back.

Ok, normally I can not get into anything even remotely "supernatural," but the telepathy that connects Shea and Nathan is such a fun addition to this novel. It somehow feels natural and normal and not forced. I loved that Nathan and Shea were able to each EACH OTHER with their respective issues, because sometimes can become very "damsel in distress," but Shea is certainly not a weak woman. I thought this was a very cool addition to the KGI series, and I can't wait to read Grace's story!

I enjoyed reading Grace's story after hearing so much about her in Whispers In The Dark. Her healing abilities differ from Shea's and the ways they are used against her add an interesting twist to the story.

This was the first book in the KGI series that WASN'T about a Kelly brother, but rather an outside member of the group. I enjoyed that the brothers still played a role in this story!

I loved this story! Steele is known as the "ice man" and boy, was it fun to watch him melt. I love that trope of "hard man who's one soft for one woman" and I loved that Maren was a strong woman, not a damsel in distress. She held her own.

This book was fine. Definitely not one of my most favorite KGI novels. I found it a bit forgettable, but Joe and Zoe are both likable and they make a sweet couple.

I love the bodyguard trope as much as the next gal, but this book was a bit meh for me. At times, it seemed like Swanny's only character trait was having a scar on his face. To be honest, I also think it's unrealistic that the "world's most beautiful woman" and a supermodel would be a virgin. Sweet story, but didn't strike my fancy.
