Sophia's journey begins when she is sent by train to the countryside with her mother’s manuscript, just as the Enemy seizes control of the Capital of her tiny European homeland. When soldiers halt the train and take the other children, Sophia manages to escape into the forest. Along the way, she encounters a talking goose, and they form a unique bond as travel companions. After losing her mother's precious manuscript, she sets out to find the Black Market, holding onto hope.

The story unfolds in dual timelines, showcasing Sophia's complicated relationship with her mother, who prioritizes her art over their connection. As Sophia desperately searches for the manuscript, she meets others who exploit her vulnerability while she navigates evasion from the soldiers. This poignant tale captures the harsh realities of war, blending sadness with hope. The interactions between Sophia and the witty goose are delightful, filled with clever banter.

If you're seeking a captivating and lyrical story, this book is a must-read. Available on January 7, it promises a unique adventure that will stay with you long after the last page.

Thank you to Harlequin Audio, HTP Hive and the author for the gifted audiobook.

I found myself struggling with the pacing and language throughout this book. The internal dialogue of Alexis felt underdeveloped and immature, which diminished my engagement with the storyline. Unfortunately, the plot became convoluted, leading to my disinterest as the narrative progressed. The world-building left much to be desired, resulting in ongoing confusion. Additionally, the male main characters lacked any redeeming traits and often came off as unsettling.

It may have been the author’s style, however, the narration simply didn't resonate with me. I found it cringeworthy, and the tone was quite off-putting.

While this book has garnered a variety of reviews and might resonate with some readers, it ultimately did not meet my expectations. This book is available now.

Thank you to @sfwilliamsonauthor @harpercollins @epicreads for the #gifted copy of this book.

The political intrigue, dragons, and thrilling codebreaking in this book created an immersive experience. In a world where dragons and humans coexist under a fragile peace agreement, dark forces conspire to disrupt that harmony. Vivien, initially self-centered, is thrust into a pivotal role as she is recruited to decode the dragon language. As she navigates her new responsibilities, she discovers that the peace treaty may harbor dangers of its own. Alongside her classmates, they must race against time to uncover and thwart a nefarious scheme.

The author's world-building skills shine, vividly bringing the setting to life. The exploration of dragon communication and Vivien's insightful translations are thoroughly engaging. Watching Vivien evolve from a selfish individual into a strong, selfless leader is incredibly satisfying. The sweet romance that blossoms between her and Atlas adds an extra layer of charm. Readers will find themselves captivated by unexpected betrayals, gripping twists, and formidable dragons aiding Vivien and her friends.

This book excels in world-building, leaving readers eager for the next installment in the series. Mark your calendars—it's available on January 7!

Immerse yourself in the gripping tale set in late 1800s Australia, during the devastating Echuca flood of 1894. This story follows the tumultuous journey of the PS Rodney, intertwined with the shearers' strike and the violence that erupted around it.

Tess is a fierce and resilient character. After escaping her abusive husband, fate cruelly places her back on the PS Rodney with him. The upheaval leads to heartbreaking consequences for Tess. As she strives to return to Echuca, the diverse individuals she encounters along her path empower her to navigate life as a widow.

The author masterfully weaves together the narratives of various characters, creating a rich story of life during this tumultuous time. Women, often seen as the property of men, faced significant hardships, yet Tess evolves into a savvy and independent individual. Told from multiple characters' perspectives, the story provides a wider lens on the struggles they endure and a deeper understanding of Tess's journey.

If you appreciate historical fiction infused with mystery, resilience, and a compelling female lead, this book is a must-read. Don’t let this enthralling story pass you by!

The intertwining secrets and lies of two families make this story utterly compelling. Told through various perspectives, it seamlessly shifts between the present and the past, revealing a tragic accident that ignites decades of buried truths. The writing is exquisite, beautifully exploring themes of self-forgiveness and the challenges of forgiving others. The emotional depth of the narrative illustrates just how tangled human lives can be. I found the dual timelines thoroughly engaging, as each layer of the story fell into place. The mystery surrounding Nora's motives for shooting her brother will keep the reader pondering the possibilities.

The narrator skillfully evokes the characters' emotions, making them feel real and relatable.

This book will grip your heart, prompting reflection on the "what ifs." It’s a stunning debut novel that you won't want to miss when it releases on January 28, 2025.

This cozy read serves as a captivating introduction to the series, Queens of Villainy. The intricate world of the three Queens forming an alliance to protect their realms truly draws you in. I particularly enjoyed the slow-burn relationship between Queen Saskia and her librarian, Fabian, who is an archduke in disguise. The world-building is excellent, allowing readers to easily grasp the setting. The characters are delightful and provide plenty of humor throughout the story. Plus, the ending sets the stage perfectly for book two, and I can't wait to dive into the next installment.

The narrator did an outstanding job bringing these characters to life, using distinct voices that added depth to the experience.

If you enjoy a cozy romantasy filled with memorable characters, I highly recommend this book. Mark your calendars for its release on February 18, 2025!

This audiobook is a delightful treat for the holiday season, but I found myself wishing it lasted longer. The narrative centers on Tella's quest to find the perfect gift for Legend, taking unexpected twists that kept me intrigued, though some moments felt a bit odd. A longer exploration would have enriched the experience.

Rebecca Soler, the narrator, delivers an outstanding performance, bringing the characters vividly to life. The audio is enhanced with captivating sound effects—trees rustling, doors creaking, bells ringing—which truly immerses you in the story.

Don’t miss out on this charming book and audiobook, both available now!

This retelling of Red Riding Hood is truly enchanting! Letty shines as a strong, brave character, despite her sheltered upbringing. Her journey back to Houston to reunite with her mother is both compelling and inspiring. The bond that blossoms between Letty and Philip, the man tasked with finding her, adds a heartfelt layer to the story, all while danger looms around them. The trials they face along the way challenge their faith and courage, making their growth even more impactful. Letty’s loyal pet wolf, Rusty, is a standout character, showcasing unwavering dedication to Letty and Philip.

The story beautifully weaves in themes of faith, reminding us of the comfort and guidance of God as we navigate life's challenges.

This is my first experience with this author's work, and I can’t wait to explore her previous fairy tale retellings.

If you’re looking for a delightful tale filled with warmth and just the right amount of suspense, this book is a must-read. It’s available now!
