Thank you to @emily.critchley and @bookmarked for the #gifted book!

This book took me completely by surprise in the best way possible.

Set against the backdrop of 1938, we meet Gillian, a lonely girl who forms an intriguing bond with Violet at boarding school. Captivated by Violet's eccentric family, Gilly eagerly accepts an invitation to spend winter break with them, only to uncover unsettling truths that challenge her initial perceptions. A devastating tragedy transforms the lives of the girls in ways they could never have anticipated.

What unfolds is a gripping family drama that exposes the hypocrisy of social class and the stark neglect of mental health during the 1930s. The characters are intricately crafted, each one defining loneliness, vulnerability, and deep-seated trauma. As secrets are unveiled throughout the narrative, the story powerfully illustrates the saying that appearances can be deceiving. The Claybourne family is dysfunctional to the core, yet I found myself irresistibly drawn into their world. Each unexpected twist offers deep insight into the characters’ behaviors, making the experience all the more immersive. The author’s lyrical writing style captivated me from start to finish.

This novel masterfully blends dual timelines, largely set in the past, as it weaves the events that shape the characters’ lives. I was taken on a wild rollercoaster ride of emotions—feeling sadness, astonishment, disgust, and shock as I turned each page.

If you’re in search of a hauntingly beautiful historical thriller with a gothic feel, intricate layers and psychological depth that keeps you fascinated, this book is an absolute must-read. Be ready—it arrives on March 4, 2025.

Thank you to @charlottemcconaghy @flatiron_books and @macmillan.audio #MacAudio2025 for the #gifted audiobook.

Having read "Once There Were Wolves" and loved it, I eagerly picked up this author's latest work, and it did not disappoint.

This is a compelling and emotionally charged novel that immerses readers in a world grappling with environmental decline and the struggle for survival. The narrative unfolds through the perspectives of five main characters: Dominick, his three children, who are navigating the profound loss of their mother while living on a remote island and a woman who mysteriously washes ashore. Thus begin the strange happenings forcing them to look at this new stranger differently.

The author’s exquisite, descriptive prose captures the bleakness of this world, yet beautifully highlights the profound connection that remains between people and the environment. The intricate world-building and emotional resonance kept me thoroughly engaged. The vivid, immersive atmosphere the author creates, paired with a critical message about environmental stewardship, is thought-provoking.

The narrators were exceptional in their ability to bring the characters to life, conveying the raw emotion threaded throughout the story.

With rich characters and deeply meaningful themes, this novel is an absolute must-read, particularly for those drawn to stories of survival, nature, and hope.  If you appreciate beautifully written, thought-provoking literature, don't overlook this gem. Quote: “I love you, I have loved you, and I will love you.”

This book was intriguing. The writing is not just lyrical; it’s a poetic tapestry that weaves a vivid narrative that will captivate you from the very first page.

At the heart of the story, Evelyn and Arden are bound by a tragic cycle—two souls fated to meet in every lifetime, yet doomed to kill one another. Evelyn is bewildered by Arden's relentless pursuit, clinging desperately to the life she cherishes. To break this devastating cycle, she must uncover a way to stop Arden from fulfilling their tragic destiny in this life.

The storyline is incredibly compelling and utterly immersive. Told through Evelyn’s perspective, the narrative elegantly shifts between the present and the myriad timelines she has navigated over a millennium. Each chapter intricately reveals the profound love they share and the heartbreaking reasons for their inevitable betrayals. While the ending might feel a bit anticlimactic, it still resonates deeply.

The narrator excels in bringing these complex characters to life, skillfully capturing the raw emotion and the magnetic bond between them.

If you enjoy tales reminiscent of Addie LaRue, filled with themes of soulmates, the resilience of love, and the lengths we would go to for it, this book is a must-read. Don’t miss out—mark your calendar for March 4, 2025!

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to @esmeaddison, @severnhouseimprint, and @BookSparks for the #gifted book as part of #WRC2025.

This book utterly captivated me with its imaginative and compelling storyline.

Sidney, a respected historian, returns to her hometown of Robbinsville on a quest to uncover a missing artifact. As she delves deeper into her investigation, she unravels a world filled with secret societies, ancient bloodlines, political conspiracy, witches, time travel, and an abundance of magic.

This book truly has it all! The integration of history and political intrigue is masterful. The author skillfully establishes the groundwork for the secret societies, witches, and magical elements, weaving in a captivating political conspiracy. I was astounded by how the narrative seamlessly connected the historical past with contemporary events. The thorough research on early American history and the Scottish ancestry woven into the story is impressive.

Reading this book felt like embarking on an Indiana Jones adventure, complete with intricate puzzles, hidden letters, and mysterious secret rooms. I found myself completely invested, eager to uncover the countless secrets lurking in this town, and I was rewarded with a thrilling experience. This exceptional book not only held my attention but also left me pondering the possibilities of what might be.

This is just the beginning, as it's the first book in the Secret Society Mystery series, and I am eagerly awaiting Sidney's next adventure.

This is book five in the captivating Seddledown series, which beautifully showcases the lives of the Dupree brothers. While it can be enjoyed as a standalone, it seamlessly weaves into the rich tapestry of their captivating stories.

Ford has harbored deep feelings for Peyton since they were children. As his singing career gains momentum, they share a passionate night that changes everything. Years later, Ford returns home, determined to rekindle their connection and finally make Peyton acknowledge the undeniable attraction between them. When Peyton faces a devastating loss—her job, her home, and custody of her son to her ex-husband—she turns to Ford. Together, they embark on a marriage of convenience, united in their quest to reclaim her son.

The Dupree brothers are truly a delight! Ford's journey is particularly inspiring, as he triumphs over his long-standing struggles with addiction. The foundation of his relationship with Peyton is rooted in friendship, yet it is electrified by love and tension that leaps off the pages. Their romance unfolds beautifully as they reveal their innermost secrets. The witty banter among the Dupree brothers is laugh-out-loud hilarious, and their unwavering loyalty to one another is truly heartwarming.

Susan's writing shines in this installment, showcasing remarkable character development and emotional depth. I cannot recommend this series highly enough! If you’re seeking a heartfelt, small-town romance centered around family, look no further—this is the perfect read! Available now on Kindle Unlimited.

Traveler of Heart is the captivating first installment in a mesmerizing series. Follow Daphne as she navigates the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Wyatt, only to discover a beautiful mirror in their shop that serves as a portal to an enchanting world filled with magic, fae, and dragons. In this extraordinary realm, she encounters Silas and his loyal friends, embarking on an epic journey through the kingdom of Fracilonia. As Daphne uncovers her true identity and embraces her newfound self, she sets off an adventure with Silas and his crew, driven by the urgent desire to return to her children.

The prequel, Snapdragon, is a must-read after Traveler of Heart. This enchanting novella offers a deep dive into the romance between Wyatt and Daphne, presented through their alternating perspectives, enriching the emotional tapestry of the story.

I was utterly enchanted by both books, devouring them in a single day. The writing is stunning and brimming with genuine emotion. The slow-burn romance between Daphne and Silas is beautifully crafted, and the magical creatures, especially the majestic pegasi and adorable baby dragons, add a delightful charm to the narrative. Silas’ family and friends exhibit unwavering loyalty, supporting Daphne in her quest to find her way home. The unique magic system and the richly developed kingdoms are a testament to the author’s creativity. The cliffhanger at the end of Traveler of Heart left me yearning for more, eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.

If you crave adventure, dragons, magic, time travel and a touch of romance, look no further. Traveler of Heart is a treasure waiting to be discovered. The book is available now, and mark your calendars for Snapdragon, set to be released on March 14, 2025!

Thank you to @julieleongbooks and @prhaudio for the #gifted audiobook.

This book presents a slow-paced and cozy narrative that invites readers into its enchanting world.

At its heart is Tao, a fortune teller who journeys between villages with her loyal mule, sharing small fortunes and wisdom. Along her travels, she encounters a diverse cast of characters: Mash, an ex-mercenary; Silt, a reformed thief; Kana, an aspiring baker; and a magical cat that adds an intriguing twist to their adventures. Together, they embark on a quest to find Mash’s missing daughter, nurturing both friendships and life lessons along the way.

While I enjoyed the unfolding story, I sometimes struggled to connect deeply with the characters. The writing is rich and occasionally poetic, yet certain sections felt uneven, with some moments dragging on a bit longer than necessary.

The narrator does an admirable job of capturing the story's mood, instilling an atmospheric depth that enhances the listening experience, though there were times when the narration became monotonous during slower passages, which affected my engagement.

Overall, this audiobook is a delightful choice for those who appreciate introspective tales filled with found family and life lessons. If you’re in search of something meditative and heartwarming, this book is an excellent fit—perfect for anyone who enjoys a bit of magic at a leisurely pace.

As a child, Little Women held a special place in my heart, so I was eagerly anticipating this new release that delves into the lives of Beth, Meg, and Amy. Each sister's story is crafted by each one of the talented authors, drawing inspiration from the real life of Louisa May Alcott and her sisters.

In this captivating narrative, Jo embarks on an adventure in New York, while Amy fervently perfects her artistic skills and searches for the right husband in Europe. Meg, though married and a mother of twins, seeks a deeper purpose beyond her roles as wife and mother, and Beth confronts her illness at a tender age with remarkable strength.

The authors weave together each sister's story, creating a reading experience that truly brings the characters to life. The sisters individual journeys are distinct yet interconnected, allowing readers to witness their personal struggles and triumphant moments. Through the heartfelt letters exchanged between the sisters, we gain invaluable insight into their relationships and the depth of their shared hopes and fears. I found the negative portrayal of Marmee, especially her relationship with Meg, somewhat disappointing.

If you're longing for a exploration of the untold stories of the March sisters, look no further. This book is set to be published on February 25, 2025.
