There's Just One Problem: Inside the WWE with Demented-but-True Stories of Mayhem, Metal Chairs, and Major Insanity by Brian Gewirtz

Really fascinating to read a book about the business by someone who's so clearly a huge mark for the business. Two points that stand out to me the most are the beginning story, where Gewirtz explains Wrestler's Court and how honored he was to be 'sentenced' by Undertaker to write a 2000 word paper on how much he respected the business. The second is a later story where he talks about laughing at Paul Heyman's lackey suggesting Torrie Wilson get naked in the ring, and a few chapters later deciding to just mention HLA 2002 and not dig into that one any deeper. He's clearly more interested in viewing WWE as a fun wacky place that just coincidentally burned both him and his passion for wrestling out. Huge mark for both Vince and the business.

4.5

Loved how claustrophobic & contained so much of the plot & characters felt. Endlessly, horrifyingly, circling back to the same places over and over, especially when those places  change in unexpected ways. Gyre's unending and worsening irritation of being trapped in a suit and unable to really touch, feel or see anything around her adding to the isolation & fear & uncertainty. The recurring mentions of her muscles and joints aching being both one of the most grounding and real aspects and so so awful and unending. The way Gyre and Em have no choice but to change and be changed by eachother. Really good book.
