I love a second chance romance, so when I saw that this book was a second chance romance with her brother's best friend, has forced proximity, and Cuban American representation? I ordered this book so fast! This is also Nina’s debut novel, and I cannot wait to read more from her.
Josie and Wes grew up around together. Wes was her twin brother's best friend and her secret crush. The summer after high school graduation, things slowly began to change, and they began secretly dating during the summer before college. A life-changing event occurs one night that changes everyone’s lives, and Josie moves away and returns seven years later. They are reunited, and we begin to learn what happened all those years in between and how it’s affecting the present.
This book is a journey filled with love and heartbreak. It is so beautifully written. I loved how Nina took us to the past and present. I also really loved her writing. I completely lost myself in the book, and in so many ways, it felt like I was watching a movie unfold.
Josie, our romance-loving book best friend! Our girl has gone through a lot, but we see how hard she has fought to work on herself. I loved seeing where she was in the past and who she grew to be seven years later. There is mental health representation in this book, and we see Josie find a way to use her experience to help others.
The author also included a playlist (with a QR code in the back) a drawing of Josie’s tattoo, and a bonus scene on her website about Josie and Wes (yes, I already read it!)
I absolutely loved this book. When I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about this book. Also, the cover? STUNNING

Seven Days in June is another book that my local indie bookshop recommended to me! This book did not disappoint.
I went into this book not knowing anything about it aside from the fact that MMC Shane is loved by so many (and I see why) and that this book would make me cry (and I did).
This book is a second-chance romance between Eva and Shane, who see each other 15 years later. Eva and Shane are both notable writers, and while they share the same connections, their paths don’t cross until one day in June.
The romance between Eva and Shane is absolutely electric. The chemistry between the two jumps off the page immediately. This type of chemistry reminds me why I love romance books so much.
I loved the writing in this book. The way Tia Williams was able to jump back and forth between the past and the future was brilliant. I also enjoyed how bits of their past was unveiled as we read. There is also disability representations in this book, which is always appreciated. This book truly takes a reader on a journey. It is equally funny, emotional, and mysterious. I stood up until 1 a.m. to finish this book because I was so invested in what would happen next.
The only thing I didn't love was it was written in the third person. As much as this story enthralled me, something about it had me feeling like something was missing. But even with that, I still highly recommend this book.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a fantastic job. The writing in this is beautiful, filled with rich imagery and symbolism. Please check the content warnings, as this book can be challenging in specific chapters. Nonetheless, I’m glad I could listen to the audiobook. There were a few things I was confused about, which could have been on my end since I was listening to the audiobook. I couldn’t always tell when we were in the present or the past. And as others have mentioned, I’m not sure how Daiyu managed to get away posing as a man for so long. This is a story that I will think about for a long time. It is heartbreaking, horrific, but impactful. My rating for the book is 3.75 stars, rounded up to 4.
