2.5 stars purely for actually giving connor his own narration as opposed to the musical
lightyears better than the musical, still don't recommend tho

Wow, what a book
I've never read something in a format like this and it did a great job of keeping me hooked. The way it was written made it very easy to just keep reading and very hard to put it down. It was a really fun and fast read and I'm really grateful for that bc I feel like it got me out of a massive reading slump (we'll see where that's headed).
I loved the setting of the 70's and everytime something like an album cover was described I could see it so clearly in front of my eyes and now I want to draw it all hdjdjdjd
I also really want to listen to all the songs man, I hope we'll get to hear them in the amazon prime adaption (generally really excited where that's going)
I feel like my next step is to listen to a lot of 70's rock lmaoo

also that little 'plot twist' at the end added a neat touch to the whole book, loved that :)

I rarely give 5 stars but I really owe it to this book for being so entertaining and making me finish it in 3 days, this hasn't happened in sooo long

I just want to hug charlie

I think it would've been 5 stars if I'd read it 2-3 years ago, but it was a really good and relatable book nonetheless

the art style is not necessarily my cup of tea, but it's still soooo beautiful. like, every single panel is a work of art.

okay first of all I loved the art style - all the dresses were soo beautifully drawn! It's held in a fairly simple, yet effective style.

the story - some bits felt like they were taken straight out of the musical sklghslkgsklg
and i also felt like it was chopped up, the connection between the events happening were lowkey missing. but all in all, i liked it a lot and even though i knew most of it, it was still an interesting read. :)

oh. my. god.
like
this would have almost been 5 star rating if it weren't for the last chapter. WHAT WAS THAT
i honestly did not see that coming. why? why would you?
i actually don't have words. when i turned the page and saw THAT page i was really shocked honestly? i don't even know man...
well actually in the latter part of the book i was like...
is this turning into a cult? i was kind of right oof

on another note:
i totally fell in love with the art style. i love it so much. i looked at almost every picture in detail. i wanted to see how the pictures were drawn, how the pencil strokes were made. i really loved the art style and the pictures in combination with the narration.

all in all this was such a cool graphic novel and i'm just gonna ignore the last part lsghslghslkgsl

I love this book. It's funny because it's true.
