I liked this book! It was an entertaining story that kept me guessing till the end. The twist was very surprising! I will say though that there were some moments that were a little clunky and maybe a bit forced? Even with that I still felt that overall I enjoyed it!

A very quick read, a little predictable, and the ending was not as satisfying because of that.

Okay I had to revisit my review after the initial rating and be more honest.

I liked the idea behind the story, but I do wish there was more action and suspense! I mean it’s the apocalypse and women have super powers! I wanted to be more excited about it, but it stayed pretty lame till the end.

Also I kept forgetting I was reading about adults because they were very juvenile.. also it did say it was feminist but it wasn’t… I got through the book with a lot of difficulty and major cringe. Yikes. Also I didn’t really understand the whole green fog situation it wasn’t very consistent with how it kills men and how it gives powers to women— and there are hardly any queer characters (and the ones mentioned briefly die right away). I have to say too that there was really not much going on for the very few POC characters in the story. And there was some fat shaming and bullying going on with Karen and she was clearly named just to make the reader automatically think of her as a “Karen” (one of the characters very obviously points this out).

I don’t know, I hate being so harsh because I know people work hard to write their books and it’s not like I’ve ever written a book.. but it’s just not good…

First off, the story dives into some tough topics, so be sure to check the trigger warnings. Despite the heavy themes though, the author blends everything together smoothly and I really enjoyed the pacing of the story! The book left off on a huge cliffhanger so I’m really excited to read the next one and see where it goes!

Really enjoyed this book and I loved that it is a stand alone. The science elements combined with the dark academia made the story so exciting and I loved the characters! No spoilers but wow I was surprised how the story unraveled! I do wish I could have more of this story, I have more book by this author on my list now because of it!

I did not know anything about this book prior to reading it, I read it for a book club this month and I thought it was great! It was entertaining and a fast read. I think it was set up to entice people to read the next book and it worked—I’m really curious to see how the story plays out! Especially because there was a big cliff hanger at the end!

I really enjoyed this book, it was fun to read and it had me hooked! I actually related to the main character Ophelia a lot, there were parts of the story that I got a bit teary-eyed. The way that Ophelia’s struggles and insecurities were written were so vulnerable and real. I struggle with similar issues and feelings as her and it really meant a lot to read her story.

Loved this book! Excited to read the next one in the series coming this spring!

Wow all I can say is this book did not disappoint!!! It picked up right where it left off and I have not stopped reading, this series is addictive! I love the FMC and MMC, the world, the ups and downs, the whole story! I’ve laughed, been so angry, and even cried too. I just can’t believe that I didn’t know about this series at all until I joined my book club! I’m already reading the next book in the series!

I can’t handle this! Just finished the book and I’m crying, SOBBING!!! This book was so good too! I love the whole series!!! I NEED the next book nowwww!!! I devoured this story and the slow burn was worth it!!!! I love Luther and Diem! I know her choices are not popular but she chose to make the more difficult path by letting annoying and bad people live but also that’s why she has the power that she does. And it’s what makes her such a force of good! Her compassion is boundless, there were times where I was yelling at my book for her to just KILL THEM!! But honestly I respect that she has so much mercy for people! And the way Luther sees her and is so devout makes me also see the good side of her! And now the waiting begins…
