“Once upon a time, each of us was somebody's kid.
Everyone had a father, even if he never provided anything more than his seed.
Everyone had a mother, even if she had to leave us on a stranger's doorstep.
No matter how we're eventually raised, all of our stories begin the exact same way.
They all end the same, too.”

My first graphic novel ever and let me tell you, I'm very impressed!

The art style was really beautiful and I'm looking forward to the next volumes in this series to see how the story further develops. I loved all the different creatures.

“He reached out and lightly touched her hair. There’s no way, he thought. I’m sunk. And my heart hasn’t beat the same since she walked into town.”

This was my first ever real romance book and I picked this up because I watched the Netflix series and I really enjoyed that. I also enjoyed my time reading this book, but I do think I prefer the Netflix adaptation more and I do feel like this book has it flaws. I'm not sure yet if I will continue on reading these books, but overall, I did enjoy it.

“Well, you’re just going to have to take a leap of faith,” he said.
“I think I can do that,” she said. “If you’re there to catch me.”
“I’m here,” he said. “I haven’t let you down yet, have I?”
She put her hand against his face. “No, Jack. You sure haven’t.”

“The power of words. They weaseled under door crevices and through keyholes. They hooked into invididuals and wormed through generations.”

I picked this up because the synopsis sounded very intriguing. I feel like this book had a lot of potential to be a very great and life-changing book, but the characters just couldn't do it for me. I didn't see myself caring as much for them and their faith as much as I think I should and that's why this book did disappoint me in some ways. I did like the ending of the very last story. I just wished I would've enjoyed this one more.
