i think this book is trying to be satirical, but it's not going far enough with its satire and everyone is just coming off as stereotypes. idk all it's doing is making me cringe for the most part and i couldn't even tell you what is going on world-building or plot-wise if you twisted my arm lol.

there's nothing really wrong with it i'm just too old for a lot of YA at this point in my life and unfortunately this isn't one of the exceptions lol

the third-person present tense is really bothering me, especially since the prologue was written so beautifully. i'll give it another try at some point (mainly because i bought it and im reaaalllly feeling that sunk cost fallacy rn lol), but i keep thinking of how much sistersong gripped me from the beginning and song of the huntress feels like mentally wading through sand by comparison. this might be my biggest disappointment of 2024 so far :(
