This book was incredible! I went through such an emotional journey from devastated to hopeful. I found myself really connecting with different pieces of the characters and rooting for Blake.

The premise of the story was so interesting, with the inclusion of a secret society reminiscent of Greek life and the pledging process. Jas did an incredible job creating an intricate story that not only makes you feel for the characters but also touches on the effects wealth inequality, racism, and mental health issues can have on people.

I absolutely recommend this book to folks who enjoy queer and coming-of-age stories that center mental health issues.

I enjoyed this book. The writing really immersed me in the story which I loved! The details of the environment featured in the book really make me want to go back to visit Berlin again.

Although there were points where I felt disconnected from the characters, probably due to being in drastically different life situations, I enjoyed learning about the characters lives and following Sam through Berlin.

This was an enjoyable read and I’m sure folks who enjoy literary fiction will enjoy reading!

Thanks to NetGalley and University of Nebraska Press for the ARC!

I absolutely loved this book right from the beginning. Kacen is such a fantastic storyteller and makes me feel so connected to the characters and their emotions! This is definitely another book that I wish I had as a young adult but even now I was able to connect and feel so much of it.

Beautiful is the first word that comes to mind. These poems cover the range of emotions with a heavy focus on grief, Black and queer experience, and HIV. Very challenging and emotional but extremely important.

I really enjoyed the complexity of this book. I was worried that it would be overwhelming as someone who doesn’t read a lot of fantasy but I thought the premise was really interesting and the book was really good! Somehow I both liked and disliked a lot of the characters’ choices, often at the same time, but I really enjoyed getting to know their lives and stories!

I absolutely loved this book! I really felt connected to the characters the whole way. It was a great mix of more complex subject matter including mental health and addiction, while also being an absolutely heartwarming (and steamy) romance!! Definitely would recommend if you enjoy open door romances!
