i’m not a prude but there’s a Lot of explicit depictions of sex and genitials that didn’t contribute anything to the message. her writing style is fairly funny and easy to read but not all of her ideas are actually fleshed out.

butler knows many words, clear or consice are not ones. i was very excited to read this book only for it to be the most dense inaccessible book i’ve ever read, including hobbes. disappointing

the portions about the details of moral psychology i found very interesting and well written! i take issue with the approach towards politics haidt emphasizes throughout the book. while polarization certainly isn’t beneficial, it falls into the trap of many privileged people that we should just “forget our differences” as if the other side isn’t actively campaigning for the extermination of my community.
