I thought I wouldn’t like this book- I’m more of a person for stylistic prose and lots of metaphors and this book’s simple style was almost off putting to me. But I liked the middle of the book best, and I liked it because of how vicerally ANGRY it made me be at Shelley. Even if it didn’t have the weird time fuckery and the plot about staying young, I would have considered Shelley my worst enemy because of all the subtle ways she strips autonomy from everyone at the care residence. To be honest, I had no idea what was happening at the end of the book, which I think is the point, and I’m only rating it 4.25 stars because I’m. Bitter about the ending. But anyways! Good book would scream about again

I think my main issue with this book was just the use of metaphors within the writing and the amount of time given for the story. The metaphors make the book hard to understand at points, and I feel that I wasn’t able to get a clear picture of Red and Blue’s differences and opinions through the fog of extended prose. I feel that this book would have been an all-time favorite and 5-star rating for me if the prose was more clear and there was more time to get to know the characters. The concept? Great, although a bit formulatic. The worldbuilding? INCREDIBLE. God, I wanna see so much of this system if only I were shown it clearly. That’s my opinion.
