This was okay. I think it’d be way better for people who HAVEN’T played D&D but maybe want to. I found myself skipping the in-game storytelling parts to get back to the actual story. The characters were very surface level and I found them cringe in a bad way sometimes. Except Liam. I want a book for him.
I usually don’t give ratings to short stories or collections of short stories but I will say, I thought the writing was really interesting, I liked the style and while these stories are fictional, they draw on real experiences and emotions of the civil rights era. It’s tragic Diane Oliver died so young. I’d love to imagine what she’d be creating today.
