This was kind of a cozy murder mystery. I loved the setting of Lavender House and got the feeling of safety while reading, even though there’s a murderer living there! I will say it was obvious who the murderer was the whole time. I was hoping for a curveball, but it was who I thought it was. Regardless, it was a great story. It made me sad, however, that queer people couldn’t live and be happy and a lot of times still can’t. As a straight cis person it’s important to remember that.

I enjoyed Daughter of Darkness even more than Child of Light. It followed a similar formula, but the stakes were higher. It invoked more emotion and was much sadder but the end was so sweet. I felt more connected to Auris this time.

This story was pretty good, it took until a little over halfway to feel like anything was really happening but the ending was great. It did not feel like a folktale necessarily, but it was still whimsical. I loved Fane as a character so much. And I’m a sucker for happy endings so the epilogue touched my heart greatly.
Since this story is based on Welsh legends, I assume most of the names were Welsh or welsh inspired, I would have benefitted greatly from a pronunciation guide because I’m sure I pronounced nothing properly

This is an excellently written book with fantastic characters. Qisami’s quips we’re incredible, her and Taishi’s unpretentiousness balanced Sali’s over pretentiousness. I enjoyed the ending for Jian and Taishi but it was mostly just a major set-up for the next book which felt kind of like a build up that didn’t go anywhere, however I really want the next in the saga now!

This was such a great story! In the beginning some of the descriptions felt a little too flowery for me, it would take me out of the immersion but I think it was just a way to world build because it didn't continue through the whole book.

This book was suspenseful, whimsical, and witchy awesomeness. The only characters you get a chance to really connect with are Emery and August and they're really the only ones you need to. The "Saoirse" chapter was so hauntingly good. I love the concept of sweet charming small towns with the dark secrets. The end was pretty nerve-wracking but the last chapter was so beautiful. I want to know why the Island ended up calling them back through the child though!
