Winterbirth by Brian Ruckley
3.0
I made it to page 231 but I just couldn't read anymore; I ended up not finishing this - and by extension book 2 & 3.
It is really slow and quite reminiscent of Game of Thrones - which was very heavy reading - and I may come back to it at a later stage.

Running With the Wolves by J.E. Reed

I honestly didn't know what to expect with this book, but I am extremely happy that I read it.
Running with the Wolves has been dubbed as Ready Player One meets The Hunger Games and that byline is totally on the money!
This Fantasy is a thrill a minute, rollercoaster ride of a read - imagine waking up in a strange place with no memory of who are are, only to be faced with dangerous monsters and even more dangerous people.....!!!
Fast paced, action packed, swashbuckler galore, book 1 in The Chronopoint Chronicles will certainly entertain you fully and give you all the feels - I totally ugly cried before chapter 16!
I highly recommend this book; whether you love fantasy or a good thriller, this story will not disappoint! Pure fantasy at its best!

Foundations of Faith by Michael Chrobak
4.0
Many thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy of his ebook in exchange for an honest review.
First, let me start by saying that I am not a religious person; not by conventional standards anyway, but Foundation of Faith, makes you question your faith; it really does.
Book 1 seems to provide the background for the growth of Thomas and the setup for the rest of the series so it comes across as slow paced. A lot happens in Thomas's life which eventually leads him to where the story is going to take us but it is only right at the end that we find out what his purpose will be.
I actually wasn't put off by this and I ended up enjoying the book; so much so that I am looking forward to the next book in the series, The Paladin of Panama.
Even though this book does get a little preachy, it is a good read; hopefully, there'll be more of a fantasy element in the next books.
