Intense , intense and more intensity. It’s the only way i will remember this piece for the longest time. The story being narrated by a narrator who’s personality you learn through as events unfold and the convoluted and tangled past makes it difficult to keep up in the initial chep at least but i was stubborn enough to stick with it just to know why literally everyone keeps talking about it. i feel for everyone. The general theme is very sad and haunting in a non ghostly way. I will absolutely revisit this some day.

hauntingly beautiful in its mundaneness. gentle and weird. stories about things you see around you almost everyday, stories you live but never pause to really look. there are three of those in the book. two of them connected in a way and another in a separate manner.

I kissed the book as I finished and I hugged it. Because you’re going to stay with me for so long, I know this. I kept listening to an ominous score throughout the reading even when there’s no music. Brilliant writing, humor that makes you ashamed because you know it’s cruel to laugh at this. Wittiest comparisons and blunt truths and facets of life woven in such simple manner, it’s like watching mundane life unfold upon your eyes by a new set of special vision. And yet the mystery and the powerful grasp and immersive undertone to it. Beautifully done.

Gut wrenching story of an Asian daughter - mother relationship. Navigation through grief and its various stages to reach the other side. Beautifully described. An easy re-read.
