Great ending to this duology. I definitely enjoyed this one even more than the first. I'll say it again, though. I dont think this is a young adult book. I felt like the world could have been built even more than what it was. Overall, I had a good time though.

Dang that was a punch to the gut kind of book. Jim Butcher is so talented, and I love seeing the layers and angles he puts together to create this amazing series. This one really broke my heart for all of these amazing characters.

So incredibly cute. Adults that had problems but worked through them in a mature way that made sense. I loved it. Evvie was a very relatable character. I loved seeing all of her growth.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 46%.
I was not a fan of the writing style and the plot was so under developed even what I read. I just don't think it would be worth finishing.

Very interesting world. The story was fast but felt unfinished. I didn't have enough time to connect to the characters.

Adrienne Young knows how to write a beautiful book. No question about that. The way she makes me feel the emotions of the characters is a real talent. That being said, the beginning of this book was very slow and was a little hard to get through. It definitely hit its stride around the middle. I enjoyed the mystery, but I felt like the romance/connection between James and Micah didn't really work. It just made me sad.

This whole series has been so much fun. I love all of these characters and all the shenanigans they find themselves part of.

Welp this one just wasn't for me. It was repetitive and predictable. I do like the authors writing tho and that was literally the only thing that got me to the end. Ana and Famine were my least favorite horsemen and FMC. I literally work at an infectious disease office, and I could not get out of my head with a post-apocalyptic setting and someone with Ana's profession and no protection/medications.

I'm so conflicted on how to feel about this book. The writing is so good and the world itself is really interesting. There are characters I care about. However, I personally felt like this book was a little too long. I think there were parts that didn't add to the story. It was just filler ultimately. Bree is still a little too dramatic for me. I completely get she's a 17 year old teenager, but she's doing very grown up things, so I guess to me that should make her more mature. That's probably a me problem though because I'm a 35 year old reading a book meant for young adults. I need to know what happens though! Lol

This book was the epitome of the saying, "We lose ourselves in books, but we also find ourselves there too." There were so many beautiful parts that really made me feel seen in being a lifelong reader. Many quotes that I've saved.

The only part I didn't love as much was just the connection between the main characters. I felt it eventually at the end, but the lead up was there, but then again nothing like the moments in other parts. If that makes sense.
