I couldn’t put this book down!!!!! Finished it in a day. Absolutely adored everything about it. Probably my favorite read of 2021.
I’ll start by saying this book is extremely heavy and it should absolutely have some trigger warnings on it for abuse, assault, and a number of other things.
When you escape to Never Never Land, or in this case Mirrorland, you are indeed escaping something. This story is heartbreaking and beautiful all at once—it weaves an intricate mystery that somehow continues to unravel even when you think you’ve found every clue.
I spent much of the first half wondering about the relevance about much of the flashbacks to the main character’s childhood, but now I wish I’d paid more attention. Just like the emails Cat receives throughout the book, those flashbacks are obviously clues for the reader. It was a bit of a tough start for me because of that, but I read the last 60% of the book all in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down!!
Highly, highly recommend.
