Just reread this entire series along with the Fated Mates podcast. It really was a different experience reading along with Sarah McLean and Jen Prokop. All this time I thought my IAD obsession was "fluff reading", something I didn't need to think too hard about. Then I listened to the podcast, and turns out these books are really smart - full of symbolism and foreshadowing! Who knew?!
Anyway... A Hunger Like No Other might be one of my least favorite in the series, but it's still a good read and a great set-up for the rest of the series. It introduces us to most of the main players - the Valkyrie, the Vampires, and the Lykae.
I first read it years ago - maybe 2011 and then I tried to read it again about a year or 2 ago and couldn't really get through it. There is a bit of dub-con in it and a decade ago, I was into it. But rereading it in 2018ish, I had different feelings about it. Rereading it along with Fated Mates helped me kind of deal with those feelings and I had a much easier time with it.
