Flash of nostalgia. I actually really enjoyed the read, sometimes fiction books help give my brain the needed break from the usual kind of non-fiction books I read,  this book was perfect for that. I’ll be watching the movie today right after I finished the book. Middle school book but for some reason means a lot to me.. The book and movies are almost identical minus a few minor details. Either way a good flash of the past.

I’m a Chicano Marxist-Leninist and this book undoubtedly has some knowledge and things to reflect on when it comes to Chicanismo unfortunately it’s from a Trotskyist point of view, Spewing anti Stalin and anti Mao rhetoric it’s very telling that the author has never read any of Stalins or Maos works. Stalin in his book “Marxism and the National Question” voices his support for marginalized people who have formed nations that are often oppressed. Although he never explicitly mentioned Chicanos he would have considered Chicanos a Nation. Free to succeed or have full autonomy. A lot of Marxist-Leninist support the National Liberation of Chicanos. Multiple books from Marxist-Leninist Chicano groups talking about their support and even expanding the theory to aid us in our struggle. I expected far more from this book and was ultimately disappointed. I honestly think people can go with passing this read up. Im actually considering writing my own version to this topic
