The action adventure-ness of this book doesn't mesh well with the first book. These books feel like they were written for two very different audiences.

I also maintain that AART is better without a sequel. The ending is magnificent, brutal, and open ended. While this book doesn't take away from the power of that ending, the punch of the ending does take away from this book. It makes the book feel almost trite, knowing what came before it.

If you hated AART give this a shot. If you liked AART, pretend it's a standalone I beg of you.

Eloquent Rage, even to those who are somewhat well-versed in theory, is a must read.

Content warnings: graphic self harm, disordered eating, emotional abuse, a older man taking advantage of a younger woman, suicide, alcohol use, drug use, bullying, drowning

This book is a good example of a good premise with terrible execution.

i adore this book and the concepts it explored but cannot give it a five star because of some technical issues that kept me from getting into the book fullt.

The ending has some rights but that plot twist had none. Who thought why yes it would be cool if Isaac had a lifelong crush on his ancestors kid???
