I enjoy books like this more than I enjoy most books. They are a mess of emotions and explore the tangled mess that can become a family. It's hard for me to explain what books like this mean to be, and I don't think I'll attempt it here. I feel seen by books like this, seen in a way that is similar yet so different from the way We Are Okay and We Are the Ants don't. I loved this novel, and the only thing keeping it from a five star is the lack of tears shed while reading.

I liked the book. I love the message, and I love what it is trying to preserve.

I won't be rating this book. It feels like the type of book that should be rated. However, I do recommend that everyone give it a read. I cannot tell you if it will inspire empathy for the addicted but I can say it is vital reading for at least those that do.

This is beautiful, and I don't know what it is trying to say or what it means or how to start peeling pack the intricacies but I am excited for the chance

This book wasn't the worst thing. I liked the writing a lot. However, it was a vapid analysis of both violence and white nationalism, boiling them done to natural and random things instead of the systematic issues they are. I'm disappointed.
