yeah this is the first classic i've read in over a year. what about it?
When I picked up this memoir, I didn't know it would be about abuse. I knew only that an author i loved had written it. I struggle to review non fiction. I struggle to assign merit to someone's life. So I've stopped rating them. Yet I feel the need to review them if I don't rate them but here I'm left with two thoughts rattling around in my mind: 1) the ways abuse, no matter the abuser, can leave similar scars and 2) this is a book I would like to buy hundreds of copies of, enough copies to hand to every sapphic woman I think needs it.
For the past five years, i knew one thing: i did not like romances. They were cheesy and forced and predictable. And yet, here I am gushing about another romance, the 3rd whole one this entire year.
Turns out, i don't like straight romances, and along those dumb fluffy stories only faliled to impress me because they were always about straight people falling in love.
I love this book. It was fluffy and romantic and between two women. It was exactly what i needed.
The romance was almost painfully slow burn which was beautiful, and the enemies to lovers? The misunderstandings? Exactly what i needed.
Now, i just need one more lgbt book about a Texan falling in love with their royal sworn enemy before i can say this is my favorite genre.
