As a 24 y/o college dropout with a dead dad I expected to like this more.

But in all seriousness, I find the book lacked the emotional depth of the previous entry. Sure it touched on grief and stagnation but that was it, just a hint of the deeper themes.

It felt in parts too slow, in particularly when the same events were essentially recycled for much of the early book. It felt in other parts too fast, the seeds of a grander plot tossed around. More than other books in the series, this felt like a snippet of a story than that story completed. It felt amateur especially when the book the precedes it managed to balance more plot threads and developments with somewhere around 100 more pages.

Solid writing, great tone, and consistent themes. In the end there are a few too many tiny threads (pun intended) left for this to reach a full five stars.

It was also a bit too blunt towards the end, in that insecure sort of way authors do when they aren't sure if their point came across without making it explicit at the end. It's a shame because this book and its theme and message came across so clearly without the explicit statement.

Looking forward to the movie, smth abt this story in book form didn't work the best for me. But it was fun.

Maybe a little too short? And I was definitely expecting something with a bit more creepy vibes.

I wish this book had a more normal title
