This was an excellently written book. Most of it is chronological yet the pacing and how they choose to reveal important information from the past is brilliant. I originally picked this up because I usually read fictions in between my nonfiction/informative book reads, but I’m so glad I read it. I got the audio version and the narrator did an excellent job at adding to the atmosphere. The time of the story, 2006, makes so much sense to how mental illness, bro culture, and race is talked about/dealt with. It is not a love story like the movie tried to make it. It’s a lot more than that. It’s raw and complex yet it’s simple enough to read casually in a day if you wanted to.
It’s a really great idea! I’m still waiting to do it I guess haha…? She does a good job at getting your motivation up for sure. I guess the motivation wasn’t enough to stay motivated, but hey…. That’s self help for ya??
It was a really fast read, but damn it’s dark. It’s just not what I expected to read, but I couldn’t help but finishing it so soon. I see parallels with my life here.
Amazing. I couldn’t put it down. It made me so hopeful to age. There’s no point in thinking that I have to rush life when I’m only in my 20’s. I forgot how brainwashed I was from America that the elderly are weak and should be discarded. They offer so much wisdom and everyone can strive to live a healthier fuller life
