This book is very different from any of the games. That is NOT a bad thing, however, as the separate games (and the movie) are all very different from each other. In that sense, the graphic novel really follows the spirit of the games -- that the Prince of Persia series is a collection of somewhat related stories, though the connections between the stories are vague at best.

Unfortunately, my praise pretty much stops here. The story was honestly rather hard to follow, and I found the plot to be very slow at times. There were certain parts of the dialog that were obviously meant to add a touch of humor to the otherwise serious and dramatic storyline, but at some points the humor was so out of place that it came out weird and rough.

Basically, if you're a fan of the Prince of Persia series, give this a read, just to say that you've read it. It doesn't take that long. If you're a fan of obscure or different graphic novels, give it a try. If you're a fan of anime and manga and you're somewhat familiar with the existence of a video game called Prince of Persia, this is probably not the book for you.

It was good to know the Shepherd's history -- I am glad that they published this volume. I do have to admit, though, that $15 is a high price to pay for a book that can be read in about ten minutes. Yes, this is a very short graphic novel. My thinking is that the book has more collector's value than anything else -- all of the pages are fully color-illustrated, and it is a nice, hardbound book.

To be honest, I think the Love Hina series is going downhill. This volume just wasn't as interesting as previous ones. I'm not sure why -- maybe it's the fact that the conflict (the strict study schedule and the dynamics between the main "couple") has been almost totally removed in this volume. Hopefully the next volume will be more engaging.

I really think I'd like to give this book 3.5 stars. It was a good book -- I enjoyed it, but it was a little slow in several places, and I feel as though the entire book could have been edited in such a way that it could have been reduced to about 500 pages (as opposed to the nearly 700 pages that it currently has).

My favorite thing about the book is that the characters were unique and likable. Both Rhapsody and Achmed had several moments in the book where they were just so... cool. Almost unrealistically cool, but not too cheesy. I could almost hear Haydon congratulating herself over a few clever lines throughout the book.

I intend to read the rest of the series at some point, but I really hope the books pick up the pace a bit and aren't as slow as the first volume.
