A very intense, highly emotional, raw & thought-provoking poetry. Some poems brought back memories I buried deep and hoped would never resurface. But the new parent that I am now is thankful for this experience.
I recommend for women of all ages. This collection takes you on a mental health journey... exploration if you will. I wish I could've read this sooner.

A very cute, quick listen. Emotional MMC, passionate FMC, and best friends who stick by their side but also aren’t afraid to call them out on their BS.
Not a fan of the miscommunication trope, it was a little too blunt in their story- if it was a reasonable misunderstanding instead of a quick shutdown without thinking, the story could’ve easily been a 5-star.

***Most recent read-through review, July 2024***: ignore all the negative crap I said before. None of it is right or deserving.
-it’s written VERY well. Especially for a fantasy slow-burn romance.
-the world building was actually immaculate. It wasn’t too much, just enough to realize the vast differences in each city, its inhabitants and the resources that come from it.
-it’s definitely a comedic Romantasy. Helisent is funny as shit.

I think about this book a lot and it absolutely deserves more than the 3 stars I originally gave it. I was a bit naive when it came to reviews and tropes. I didnt know that slow-burn was a thing authors did on purpose and Capes absolutely bodied that trope. This book was amazing and I’m so glad that I’ve been given the opportunity to stay on the ARC team.
***First read-through review, January 2023***: It’s a good book, I want more of Helisent and Samson.
Things I enjoyed:
-Alternating POVs
-Glossary and pronunciation
-Cliffhanger
-LGBTQ+ representation
-The character emotions were strong, thorough, and added significantly to character progression
There are a few reasons why I don’t give it 5 stars:
-it’s a very, very slow story. And by that, I mean it didn’t reach the ‘don’t wanna put it down’ point for me until about 65% through.
-For it to be a fantasy, the world building was at a minimum. The descriptions were good, but I needed more. Especially since majority of the book is told while they’re traveling for months at a time.
-The romance build up was lacking, anti-climatic. I would not classify it as a comedic romantasy as some do.
The cliffhanger was 100000% completely unexpected. It hurt my feelings actually. But it definitely solidified the chance of my reading the second book In the series.

The first… 55% of this book was ROUGH. I moved it to my DNF twice before finishing. And that’s unheard of for me- I’ve ever only given a book two chances. But 3?! I’m glad I did though. Around chapter 23/24 is where it gets Interesting and I couldn’t put it down. It starts moving faster and really keeps you wondering what’s gonna happen next.
People compare it to twilight because that’s all they seem to know when it comes to vampires but coming from a Twilight diehard (me), they’re not the same. The only practical coincidence is vampires, a love story, and someone wanting to kill one of the main characters. But that’s to be expected, I thought. The nitty gritty and amazing details are what kept me going in the end.
