Definitely a book written by and for rich white girls so I did not relate to that part. Having said that, the world isn't going to unshackle itself from the obsession with thin privileged white girls and that doesn't mean the rest of us shouldn't try to be happy in spite of that. Spite is a great motivator and not being able to relate to 90% of Rubin's life made that clear because I have decided to start my own happiness project as well. It won't be as trite or unrealistic as hers but it will result in me being happier and so for that I give the book 3.5 stars. Use it as a template instead of a guide, if that makes sense. She's on to something in that we can all 'change our lives without changing our lives' so very dramatically (because that often requires loads of cash and upending systemic issues). We still deserve to be happy though.

This book is insane. If you're not infuriated by billionaires and the Sacklers in particular, you weren't paying attention. It is unbelievable and yet completely unsurprising that we as a society let this one family wrought hell on millions of people who didn't deserve it.
