I really enjoy reading Shakespeare and this is one of my favorites. To me the writing is very witty and and just so appropriate for each scene.
An amazing fantasy and adventure. The fact that he created a whole separate language, world, culture, etc is fascinating to me. Of course, the movies are fantastic as well.
I have always stories held by a single item, whether it's jewelry passed down through a family, a house, or in this case, a work of art. It's amazing how a seemingly unremarkable portrait of a countryside doctor could turn out to be worth millions.
If you are in the mood to be really sad and maybe shed a few tears or just think "wow, SO glad not to be an oppressed English aristocrat," read this.
I'm not a huge fan of such tales (i.e. Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc). They are too reminiscent of a bad acid trip, or at least, what I imagine what one would be like. I get too lost in them in a bad way and the movies of these books are always creepy, often involving Helena Bonham Carter/Tim Burton/other assorted wierdos.
