I HATE "it was all a dream" tropes/ went back in time and it never happened. Every book in this series (besides the last) was a 5 for me. The whole plot is driven by the fact that fate is set in stone. If fate is set then Darren making it so he wasn't the one to become a vampire's assistant in the first place means it became someone else's burden. I don't believe Darren would make that choice. In the end that is him saving himself rather than the vampires, which was his whole character development through the whole series. Darren becoming a little person was not convincing to me because he somehow knew who he was and why he was a little person when Hurkat couldn't remember his life, he had to discover it.
