Well developed characters and incredibly unique premise. Was not super invested, myself, though.

The character work suffered in wake of the plot, and the plot felt ridiculous to me. I wanted to know what happened but was rushing to just get through it all.

I loved the vibes. I loved the story telling and the style. I really struggle when I don’t like the characters and I am no longer rooting for anyone, which was the case here. I left just feeling sad. I liked what Schwab had to say about humanity and love but the reading/emotional hangover was intense.

Beautiful and has a lot to say but I found myself shaking my head and wishing ill on all of the characters.

Wow wow wow. This book was breathtakingly good, between the unique stories and perfectly intertwining points of view. I love how Quinn writes complex, lovable, and deplorable women. The entire book was so engaging and beautifully written, and of course ties up in a neat little bow. A quote that got me was: “He found her lovely. He found her obscene. He found her. 'Here you are,' he said aloud, and smiled.”

Ugh I feel like we have all been Catherine before. Just not quite getting the overtones of what’s happening despite your heart being in the right place. Such an interesting take on dramatic irony/unreliable narrator as she takes EVERYTHING on face value. For the genre, it was incredibly easy to follow and I liked the scope of the story Austen told. All in all stunning.
