This is a soft DNF! I will be back for this book, but I am not in the mood for this right now… I think Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow has thrown me into a book slump (let’s hope not)

Wow! I had to sit with this book for a moment to determine my rating. I’m still going between my ratings, so don’t be shocked if this somehow bumps up in rating (or bumps down). I ate this book up super quickly and I loved it, but there were some things that I didn’t like (which isn’t a bad thing no book is perfect…) It definitely had a pacing issue at some points, the ending was unsatisfying, the conversation about the creative process for making a game was SUPERRRR interesting as a gal who LOVED watching gamers, and I have so many more opinions but I’ll discuss it further in the— aforementioned— wrapup!! Super strong book that made me feel incredibly confident in picking up other literary fiction, third person POV books in the future!

I just want to say that I love reading indie authors books, especially when there is POC in the novels (and written by a POC); however, I think the book felt too Tiktok-y for me. It felt like it was trying to cater to the audience rather than the author writing a book she genuinely wanted to write. I mean— who knows? I may try out another book from this author because I can see the vision but it just felt like this was a book that was supposed to be under the “As Seen on TikTok” category, rather than a “This is just a great friends to lovers, best friends brother book.” If that makes any sense. IM SO SORRY TO THIS AUTHOR

Wow! I’ve read Beach Read and I didn’t really enjoy it and then I tried to read Book Lovers (it didn’t work out), yet I couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe this was going to be the book for me. AND BOY OH BOY WAS I RIGHT!!! I should’ve read this book sooner. It felt like Emily Henry put all of my thoughts into a book and said “deal with it” 😀 CRIMINAL! I had a couple issues with the book… nothing crazy though! I felt there were a couple repetitive parts and sometimes the dialogue sounded SOOOO out of character it was too cartoonish if that makes sense (it’s an issue I had with Beach Read as well) long story short… I loved this book so much and it was a beautiful story I think I left a piece of my heart in between the pages to be honest
p.s. I am NOT a second chance girl (I actually try to avoid it if I can) and I ate this book up so yeah… do with that what you will 😋💗
