Definitely not a book for me, because I don't really enjoy Everyone's The Asshole scenarios. At the same time I was riveted by the meandering plot slowly racheting up tension. I would absolutely have liked the last third of the book to deal with the last few pages and beyond, but in a way it's rewarding to read something that leaves you very vividly picturing whatever happens after the book ends.

Nobody writes sci-fi like Ann Leckie. And nobody writes characters so intriguing and sympathetic despite also being, in a very literal sense, completely alien. Translation State is a super satisfying read, with twists and turns I didn't see coming but definitely enjoyed following along.

I absolutely loved this! The world is fascinating, and the characters are multifaceted. Reading, I wanted to know more about everything, and I was rewarded by so much cool stuff about the characters, their relationships and their past.

I was not expecting to have this many feelings about radish drawings!
