Dare Me by Megan Abbott

so close to being great. thank god we have a perfect season of television that capitalised on that and then some.
Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins: Caduceus Clay by Kendra Wells, Taliesin Jaffe, Matthew Mercer

Gorgeous art. Caduceus is the character I thought least needed an origin comic but this was genuinely beautiful.
Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins: Mollymauk Tealeaf by Jody Houser, Taliesin Jaffe, Matthew Mercer, Hunter Severn Bonyun
3.5
Just okay, easily the weakest of the origin comics imo.
Corrupt by Penelope Douglas

books do not always have to be good, sometimes it is enough for me to just have some silly fun. wasn't expecting gratuitous lesbian sex, loved that! (this is not sarcasm, i was sincerely delighted)
The Measure by Nikki Erlick

hannah i'm so sorry but i thought this was mid 🫣 weird global politics, lowkey military propaganda and characters i felt basically nothing for, but it was enjoyable enough and i think it stuck the landing pretty well.
Next of Kin by Hannah Bonam-Young

started cute and fun, but got verrrryyyy annoying. willing to read more hannah bonam-young because there was a lot of potential here, but the second half of this was just. not good.
The Truth According to Ember by Danica Nava
3.5
very funny that there's a scene where the leads are deciding what to watch between unsolved mysteries and babe: pig in the city, and ember jokes about choosing between a series about horrific murders and a cute pig movie. i don't know if the author has seen pig in the city but i feel pretty confident in saying it's more disturbing.
Narrator: Something broke through the terror - flickerings, fragments of his short life, the random events that delivered him to this, his moment of annihilation. As terror gave way to exhaustion, Babe turned to his attacker, his eyes filled with one simple question...
Babe: ...why?
