This book was very very short. Not entirely sure why some scenes were fade to black and cut short especially if they would've added to the plot. That was definitely a choice I guess. It just made the overall plot and characters feel superficial.
I enjoyed the book nonetheless, whatever crumbs we were given.

Well this unfortunately didn't hit the mark for me. I was terribly bored during the entire thing. I loved the characters but the pace of the book was horrible.
There were so many filler chapters which weren't really fillers that was meant to slowly propel the plot toward but it was all so boring. Everything was terribly slow until the 90% mark where there was the big battle that happened in the blink of an eye.
Overall, three stars.

20% in and the book is already better than the first.
Holy shit her balls dropped. It's so ironic that I like her now and Einar is on my shit list.
Like why tf ate you upset at her for having common sense and refusing to rush into things and make the same mistake like she did with Dune when you're still lying to her about being mated.
Like you bit her-albeit by mistake- then confess your love for her after she was told she would have to marry Prentis but still don't tell her about being mates. Sen salakmışım??? gerçekten.
Ok I'm not upset anymore, he just told her literally a paragraph after I typed this sjkslshsks.
I love that he never takes her freedom of choice away from her, no matter the outcome for him.
78% in- he's so hot.
And I love the fact that even though she's supposed to be this powerful greater fae saviour and she has not really any control over her magic. In times of need, she does things purely out of sheer panic and instinct.
I love the multi- POVs between characters but I was not interested in Mavlyn or Leap at all. I found myself skimming through those chapters.
Thank the author for teaching me new words. Anathema. Chagrined. Like she's a scholar your honour!
Overall great read. Enjoyed it way more than I did the first book. Rated 4.75 stars

So right now I'm 52% in and plot wise not much has happened. It isn't necessarily a bad thing though, as the pace, world- building and overall plot is promising.
The main character Adara (amazing name btw I'm stealing so my future baby) has pissed me off one too many times and I know for a fact that she'll continue to do so as the story progresses. Shes so ughhhhh.
Our love interest Einar is okay, I quite like him although we haven't seen much of his personality, only from his backstory and war flashbacks.
The only thing I have an issue with (other than Adara) is the writing. I've spotted a couple grammatical errors nothing extreme, but there's something about the dialogue that I just hate. Its so cringe and seems a little anachronic at times. I know there isn't an established time period but certain phrases and words said by the characters are very out of place- at least for me.
-----
Finally finished reading..
It's fast paced but at the same time nothing happens beyond some quests. Things finally picked up at about 82% and just when it got action packed, the book ended.
Although there was not really any development in the main characters' relationship, I was okay with that- they had so much to worry about anyway.
Einar was persistent on refusing to acknowledge their mate bond for obvious and totally valid reasons, especially given everything he and his people went through at the hands of her species. She had to knowledge of the bond and fought against her attraction to him at times because they failed to get along due to biased propaganda of the dragon species and the war which she learnt from those around her. She even tried using it against him at times during their little spats but she didn't know better so I get it I guess.
I found it a little lackluster and weird that Einar suddenly had a eureka moments and had realizations of her actual parentage a literal chapter after we, the readers found out. Especially when he failed to mention or even think about it before then. Like huhuhuuhhh.
And on the note of her actual parentage, I knew her 'mother' was not actually her mother but I don't know why it didn't occur to me who her parents could've been when it was so obvious to someone who reads every time of the day.
But like, best friends daughter is craaaazy. It threw me off a bit but the revelation is in no way predatory or rapey which I appreciated.
Overall I rated the book 3.75 stars BUT a high 3.75. I'll definitely check out the second book in the series.

This is an overall review for all three books of the series thus far- I'm lazy and don't feel like writing multiple ^.^
Morally grey characters, villains and complex female characters have always been my favs when reading and this book has just about all of them. I have longed and longed for a bad ass female character who was considered "the villain" of the story and boy did Amber Nicole deliver.
Book one ★★★★.25 - although there were some conflict and adventure, was understandably more of an introduction to characters and future plot points. But in no way did it disappoint. Book 2 is where we saw out badass FMC doing her thing. Miss Dianna Martinez you deserve the world.
Book two ★★★★★- yes. yes. yes. All I have to say. Mother was eatingggg.
Book three ★★★★.5- once again amazing. The only things I didn't like however were the multi POVs we got— only because I was more interested in the plot/ action with the main characters but these POVs were detrimental to the story so it's fine. The other thing is that there is a build up to a battle which will occur in Book four so there was alot of downtime with our main couple when they weren't busy saving the world or wateva (I skipped most of it I'm ngl)
I love the dynamic between Dianna and Samkiel. He was portrayed as this all mighty bad ass figure to all the other mythical beings, so when we were finally introduced to him I was a bit shocked to say the least. I feel like this made me underestimate him greatly and when I thought his balls were finally dropping and we've seen the true extent of his power, something else happen and he proved me wrong.
I love that our girl Dianna is this strong ass creature, the extent of her power never seen before- strong enough to rival the gods and she knows it. I was so glad that throughout the series she still made mistakes and she remained impulsive. Love that she didn't automatically become all knowing and the strongest person ever with an incredie grip and control on her magic- it was a gradual process and she still isn't even at her furthest potential.
Villains were villaining. Enemies to lovers were enemising. Banter was amazing. Love the diversity. Plot and world building were easy to follow and understand. Book one smut (what little there were) was great, hated it as I moved to books two and three. I skipped them all. It wasn't necessary and I feel like it wasn't written that well. I usually hate fade to black but I wouldn't have minded if it was.
