Young Avengers, Vol. 2: Alternative Culture by Kieron Gillen, Kieron Gillen

This book ended on a creepy note that escalated into downright terrifying and vomit-inducing after I googled Leah. JFC WHY?!!
House of M by Brian Michael Bendis

This was unexpectedly horrifying because of the psychological aspects of the story and because of the ethical-moral issues the Avengers and X-Men found themselves grappling with.
We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver

Two of the longest, hardest, triggering months of my life that I can NEVER get back. There is not a single likable character in this book and the narrator is so pretentious I almost gave up after reading the first page.
Not kidding.
The subject matter is fascinating, but the book itself is unnecessarily wordy and reads like a play-by-play for child neglect and abuse. It showcases everything wrong with the 1990s upper classes -- loveless marriages in McMansions, blatant favoritism, an avoidance to everything and anything relating to therapy no matter how badly someone might need it -- these people need it bad which results in untreated mental illness.
The book is an examination of nature versus nurture.
Is this child evil?
Or he is disabled in some way and acting out to get his mother's attention because she has only ever given him negative attention which to him is better than no attention at all?
Read for yourself, folks.

Alias, Vol. 1 by Brian Michael Bendis

Not exactly what I was expecting. Very different type of drama from the show (obviously), but Jessica is still such a relatable character. That's what makes this such a compelling and easy read.
Jessica Jones is a survivor.
Looking forward to volume two.
