This book is sad and was a little slow to start, but it eventually got really interesting to read. I keep wishing that this were somehow not relevant regarding old events of the past, but it's an unfortunately reality that the holocaust actually happened. I've talked to John Boyne on Instagram before and he's a really nice guy, but I find his style of writing can be a bit slow and some sentences can drag on for longer than necessary. Overall though, this is a good book.

The reason why I didn't give this five stars (even though I absolutely love Tyler) is for two reasons. One, he deals with some intense topics that are important to understand about him, but you have to be in the space to understand them. What I mean by this is that there are some talks of physical abuse and sexual attachment to people. I personally find this a little difficult to read about, but I feel like at a different point, I may have been better readying. Two, I wish there were way more pictures of Tyler. There weren't many even though there were some.
