Honestly, I couldn't finish this. I read to page 180. I found the setting and concepts interesting, but after 180 pages very little actually happened in the book. Some of the characters were sort of intriguing, but nothing was really pushing me to keep reading.
There were also a number of things that sort of annoyed me, such as characters constantly referencing a book oracle, because apparently if the Japanese took over everyone would be doing a Chinese tradition? Then there was the fact that all the characters, even the Japanese ones, seemed to feel hopeless about well everything. Finally, it seemed like they were going to have "The Man in the High Castle" pop up, but with only 100 pages left of the book he still hadn't popped up, and wasn't anywhere near.
Seemed like the really interesting content of this book was the setting and ideas behind the what ifs, which could have been read in a quick summary.

This jumps right in, which was a little confusing at first but worked. I enjoyed the halfling thief character quite a bit, but I thought some of the other characters, specifically the elf ranger and tiefling warlock felt flat and one dimensional. Worth reading, but not necessarily something I will go out of my way to read further.
This series has beautiful artwork, that emphasizes the brutal relationship between prey and predator (and how that line seems to switch in when new animals enter the mix).
I love how the illustrator is able to give the animals some emotion/facial expressions thru their eyes and faces. There were a few moments where I had trouble distinguishing which lion was the "main" lion, especially in the rain scenes.
I also got distracted by the sheer amount of animals being depicted, which often seemed to veer away from the lion. Though I did love the moments with crocodiles.
Overall I liked this volume better then the one on the fox, but the tiger volume remains the best of the series.

This was an excellent sequel to the already extremely enjoyable first volume. The plot surrounding Zayne continues to thicken, with hints that someone may be guiding the "covenant".
This volume has everything that we have come to expect from the Old Republic series from volume one, with a series of griffs, cons, and tricks helping Zayne and his plucky band. The mandalorians are putting increasing pressure on the republic, and there are hints of tension within the Jedi. Some amazing battles take place, great character development, and continued hi-jinks from Gryph.
There is a brief reveal of what people meant by continually referring to zayne's relationship with the force as "unique."
This second volume ties up the main story line surrounding Zayne in a satisfying way. Great second part !
