Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond
5.0
Definate must read. Written in such an easy to understand way which is not a simple task considering the topic. He packs so much information in I found myself learning so much more on the second read. He lays things out simply from a scientific perspective leaving readers wondering how they never knew this before and exclaiming it makes so much sense. Starting at the very beginning with hunter gatherer societies and explaining how natural resources led to such differences on continents that continued to build until recent times when there is such dispairity among populations. An honest look at history and how we got to where we are today.
Hell to Pay by Cate Corvin
5.0
In this book Mel wins her freedom by totally living up to being the Lady Wrath. She then sets her sights on her next big feat and starts making plans with her men. However, I found this book was more focused on her relationships and her hottie men with some really steamy scenes. The ending leaves a lot hanging and I can't wait to read the next book!
Hell Hath No Fury by Cate Corvin

All I can say is whew....so much happens in this book! Corvin has painted such a unique vision of hell with Demons behaving like spoiled children we often need reminders of just how dangerous these men and this place can be. Mel and her mates are ready to do what needs to be done to free hell from the Dragon. But can they play nice long enough to do it? Can they get the princes of hell to assist? Can they find a weapon powerful enough? So many surprises and twists. This is the best book of the series by far and I can't wait to see what happens next!

After reading the description of this book I dug in and quickly questioned if I selected the same book. It had quite a slow start and was about half way through before I started to see the plot emerging. Pagan and her friends all seem pretty typical with teenage relationships and drama...until she meets Death. She proceeds to
immediately fall in love with him as he sings her to sleep every night. This book had me asking a lot of questions and I was given very few answers eerily similar to Pagan in the book. I couldn't help wondering how Death that is thousands of ⁶years old fit into high-school or how Pagans boyfriend seemed so oblivious to everything around him. Pagan spends most of the book trying to figure out who her mystery soul is and he spends equal time running from her while her friend's friend's try to figure out what's going on with her. I enjoyed the plot of the story but can't help feeling the author could have gotten there quicker and with more details.
